Description: Slam poetry is a form of spoken word performance poetry, held at a competitive poetry event or ‘slam’. Poets perform their own work which is “judged” on a numeric scale by randomly picked members of the audience. This exhibit highlights slam poetry's founding father, publicity, women's contribution to the art and specific poets. This exhibition was originally on display in the first floor Information Area of Morris Library from Feburary 1-June 10, 2011.

Description: 2012 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of American author Edith Wharton (January 24, 1862 – August 11, 1937). Born into a prominent, wealthy, New York City family; throughout her life she rebelled against the high–society leisure lifestyle. Wharton often wrote critically about the societal norms of the upper–class to which she was subjected. Many of her works are well–known for the main characters suffering twists of fate and devastating irony. The exhibition features special copies and best known works. This single case exhibition was originally on display in the Morris Library Information Room from January 4-31, 2012.

Description: The title of this exhibit, “From the Past, for the Future,” refers to the historical denigration and dismissal of the achievements of women and women's reluctance to commit their stories to writing. This exhibit features examples of women’s biographies from the print holdings of Special Collections. This single case exhibition was originally on display in the Morris Library Information Room from March 1-March 31, 2011.
