Description: The Statewide Groundwater Management (SGM) program oversees the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), administers the California Statewide Groundwater Elevation Monitoring (CASGEM) Program, and updates California’s Groundwater, Bulletin 118. In addition, the program focuses on developing principles and strategies to manage the impact of drinking water wells and establishing a statewide reporting system for households facing water shortages. The SGM program is also responsible for collecting and analyzing groundwater data, investigating and reporting on groundwater conditions, promoting comprehensive surface and groundwater management, providing technical expertise for statewide improvement, and offering assistance for local community engagement, education, and groundwater funding.
