Description: In 2004, the Corrections Standards Authority replaced the Board of Corrections in California. CSA,as mandated by state law, had several key responsibilities. These included setting and regularly reviewing minimum standards for local juvenile and adult detention facilities, conducting biennial inspections of these facilities, and reporting findings to the Legislature. The authority was also involved in reviewing architectural plans for construction and remodeling of such facilities and establishing standards for recruitment, selection, and training of corrections personnel.
