Description:
The Texas City Disaster is one of the worst industrial accidents to occur on American soil. It began mid-morning on April 16, 1947 with the explosion of ammonium nitrate aboard the SS Grandcamp. The SS Highflyer exploded early the next day resulting in almost 600 casualities.
