A collection of archived news articles from various news websites documenting the American Manufacturing Council crawled for Baker Library Special Collections. The American Manufacturing Council was a group of 28 prominent chief executives established January 27, 2017 to advise U.S. President Donald J. Trump on domestic manufacturing initiatives. The American Manufacturing Council was part of U.S. Department of Commerce with the goal of acting as liason betwen the manufacturing sector and the federal government. The council was intended to meet at least four times a year to discuss President Trump's goals of deregulating industry, cutting taxes, and renogatiating international trade deals. It was chaired by Andrew Liveris, CEO of Dow Chemical Company. Several executives resigned from council in protest of Trump's response to the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, VA in August 2017. President Trump disbanded the Council, as well as the President's Strategic and Policy Forum on August 16, 2017.
