Description: "100 Blacks" was founded in 1995 by a core group of concerned African Americans representing a variety of professions within the field of law enforcement. The number of those men and women who wanted to participate in being part of a social solution instead of a passive problem quickly grew to 100 and beyond. These individuals all shared a sense of community, cultural and professional pride. This pride was accompanied by an unfulfilled desire to 'give back' in some meaningful way. Through skillful organization and administration, 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care was born. In that first year, $10,000 in grant monies was collected from the membership and distributed to needy individuals and organizations all over the City of New York."--taken from website 2024.03.11

Description: "In our newly built mill, we can individually process your fiber into high quality rovings, batts and yarn. Our mill comes from our own need and desire to have yarn that comes from only our animals - yarn from our farm. It is so exciting to raise these beautiful animals with their wonderful fiber. How frustrating it has been to get that special fiber, which you worked so hard to breed for and to raise, turned into yarn. A+ Alpaca Fiber Mill will create yarn from your farm so you can show off that special fiber! Every farm can have their own yarn to market or turn into garments." -- from the website, 2019.11.01

Description: Since 2001, APC-Nepal provides the street children of Kathmandu with a sympathetic ear, moral support and a wide range of facilities, including various shelters with living conditions where they can feel secure and have the freedom and opportunity to learn and develop. Since its inception, APC has realized that street children can not and should not be considered as passive victims of their family, society, or fate. On the contrary, in spite of their young age, they need first to be listened to, empowered and respected as the prime actors of their lives and decisions. This realization has never ceased to guide APC’s development throughout the years, and has greatly contributed to making APC one of the most successful NGOs for street and marginalized children in Nepal. - From the website 2018.12.03 Organization founded in 2001

Description: "For Alain Ducasse, nature is an inexhaustible source of inspiration: it is nature that dictates the rhythm of the kitchen, of the farmers, breeders and fishermen. Conscious of his responsibility to the preservation of natural resources, he works only with seasonal produce, produced naturally or fished durably. Chickpeas from the High Alps, citrus fruit from the eastern Pyrenees, "boeuf fin gras du Mezenc", zucchini flowers from the Queen of Versailles garden, red mullet from the île d'Yeu, saffron from Limousin. On his restaurants' menus, Alain Ducasse pays tribute to the local origins of produce, a measure of their exceptional quality."

Description: "In 2010, Chef Ryan McCaskey began planning on fulfilling his lifelong dream of opening his own restaurant. In 2011, this dream became a reality and has since garnered accolades locally and nationally, including a Michelin One Star-rating after just 10 months, a Michelin Two Star-rating in 2015, a 2012 Jean Banchet Best New Restaurant Award, and Four Stars by Chicago Tribune’s Dining Critic Phil Vettel in 2016. Inspired by his time spent in Maine since childhood, Chef McCaskey pays homage to the serenity and abundance found across the state. Many of the subtle nuances and details within the restaurant have touches of Maine throughout. Chef also sources much of the products found on Acadia’s tasting menus directly from the Deer Isle area, specifically Penobscot Bay and islands surrounding."

Description: "The Acadiana Fibershed is dedicated to preserving the Acadian Brown Cotton heirloom seed and donates a portion of all cotton seed grown to the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, Cade Farm Seed Bank. We are revitalizing ABC cotton production with farmers who are committed to responsible growing, pursuing organic certification and adhering to the requirements of the State Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Boll Weevil Eradication Commission. The Acadiana Fibershed is preserving the past and creating the future of Southwest Louisiana through our efforts to develop a supply chain that will support a sustainable fashion industry within the French speaking parishes of Southwest Louisiana. The Acadiana Fibershed encompasses twenty two parishes in southwest Louisiana. The area’s name recognizes the region’s historic role as the area in which approximately 3,000 Acadian refugees sought sanctuary after being exiled from present day Nova Scotia in the early 18th century. The time honored traditions of family, self-sufficiency and economic reciprocity remain intact to this day along with the cultivation of Acadian Brown Cotton. The natural brown cotton was used by the early settlers to weave dowry textiles for Cajun brides referred to as L’amour de Maman — a mother’s labor of love." -- from the website, 2020.09.03
