Description: Archived website of the Language House Immersion Program, a "living-learning" residential program established at the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1989 to "[provide] students, who are serious about language learning, with the opportunity for daily language and cultural immersion in an organized study environment" ("About the Language House," http://wayback.archive-it.org/2410/20180429215114/https://sllc.umd.edu/language-house, archived April 29, 2018). Language clusters within the program are Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Persian, Russian, and Spanish. Between November 2013 and February 2016, students in the program published 12 issues of the Language House Newspaper. Description: Archived website of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC), a nonprofit organization founded in 1966 and dedicated to the preservation and study of sound recordings; in all genres of music and speech, in all formats, and from all periods. ARSC membership is comprised of both private individuals and institutional collectors. Current membership consists of approximately one thousand archivists, librarians, and curators representing many of the worlds leading audiovisual repositories participate in ARSC alongside record collectors, record dealers, researchers, historians, discographers, musicians, engineers, producers, reviewers, and broadcasters. ARSC hosts an Annual Conference bringing together collectors from a variety of backgrounds. Since 1968, ARSC has published a peer-reviewed journal and the ARSC Newsletter delivers timely announcements, short articles, and a calendar of coming events. The ARSC website includes information about its publications, membership, annual conference, email list, grant programs, awards, audio preservation and restoration directory, education and training programs, statements, blog, board, chapters, committees, news, and events.
