The South Carolina Department of Archives and History is an independent state agency whose mission is to preserve and promote the documentary and cultural heritage of the Palmetto State. As websites created by state agencies are public records, preserving them is also a part of that mission. State agencies utilize websites as their primary means of presenting and disseminating information to the public.

Description: The Commission on Women promotes equality for women in South Carolina and their families. It was administered by the Office of Executive Policy and Programs and transferred to the Dept. of Administration in 2015 by the South Carolina Restructuring Act of 2014 (Act 121). Description: The South Carolina Human Affairs Commission was created by the General Assembly in 1972 to encourage fair treatment, eliminate and prevent unlawful discrimination, and foster mutual understanding and respect among all people in this state. Based on the tenets of Title VII of the 1964 federal Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Housing Act, and the Americans with Disability Act, the South Carolina General Assembly declared that the practice of discrimination within the state because of a person’s race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, familial status or disability to be unlawful. These records may contain minutes, photographs and video of significant events, statistics, agency policies, and other significant and related records. This is the former website of the Human Affairs Commission and this seed is no longer captured using the Archive-It service.
