The South Carolina Department of Archives and History is an independent state agency whose mission is to preserve and promote the documentary and cultural heritage of the Palmetto State. Description: The State Accident Fund is the primary provider of worker's compensation insurance in the state. In 1943, the South Carolina General Assembly created and continued in effect from year-to-year the State Workers' Compensation Fund as a division within the South Carolina Industrial Commission. In 1947, the law governing the State Workers' Compensation Fund became a permanent act. In 1974, the State Workers' Compensation Fund was established as a separate agency. On July 1, 1993, State Government restructuring was enacted by the Legislature, thereby renaming the State Workers' Compensation Fund as the State Accident Fund. Description: The South Carolina Budget and Control Board was created in 1950 by Reorganization Plan No.2 in 1950 (Act 621 of 1949) which merged 10 boards and commissions to provide a broad array of services to the public sector and administrative and regulatory functions. The Board is composed of the Governor, the State Treasurer, the Comptroller General, the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. The South Carolina Budget and Control Board ceased existing July 1, 2015, when many of the functions transferred to the Dept. of Administration by the South Carolina Restructuring Act of 2014 (Act 121).
