Description: The General Assembly created the Crime Victim's Ombudsman in 1994 (Act 433). The mission of the Office of the Crime Victim Ombudsman (CVO) is to ensure that victims of crime are served justly, equitably and fairly by the South Carolina Criminal Justice System and its victim service organizations. It was administered by the Office of the Governor and transferred to the Dept. of Administration in 2015 by the South Carolina Restructuring Act of 2014 (Act 121). The General Assembly transferred the State Office of Victim Assistance (SOVA) and the Office of the Crime Victims' Ombudsman to the Office of the Attorney General's South Carolina Crime Victim Services Division on July 1, 2017 (Act 96). This was an initial crawl of the Crime Victims’ Ombudsman website and this seed is no longer captured using the Archive-It service.
