Collected by: University of Manitoba

Archived since: Jun, 2016

Description:

In collaboration with the University of Winnipeg Library, the National Centre of Truth and Reconciliation, and the Library and Archives of Canada, the University of Manitoba Libraries has curated and captured a selection of webpages, blogs, news coverage, and PDF files that pertain to Manitoba's ongoing involvement with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. This growing collection covers a diverse range of topics, which include issues on education, politics, legislation, mental health resources, and more. This is an ongoing web-archiving project that will continue to grow as we witness new ways that reconciliation and healing take place in our province.

URL: http://www.kairoscanada.org/what-we-do/indigenous-rights/windsofchange-report-cards#mb

Description: This report card has been prepared by KAIROS as a baseline to assess progress in achieving reconciliation through education in schools across Canada. It is intended as a basis for dialogue. In June 2015, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Indian Residential Schools called on governments in Canada, “in consultation and collaboration with Survivors, Aboriginal peoples, and educators, to make age-appropriate curriculum on residential schools, Treaties, and Aboriginal peoples’ historical and contemporary contributions to Canada a mandatory education requirement for Kindergarten to Grade Twelve students.” (Call to Action 62.1)
