Title: Museum of Paleontology (University of Michigan) Web Archives

URL: https://lsa.umich.edu/paleontology/

Description: "The University of Michigan Museum of Paleontology is a research museum devoted to study of the history of life, interpretation of its meaning, and sharing these experiences with students. The Museum is the intellectual home of paleontology at Michigan. It provides staff, laboratory, and field support for faculty and students to enable new and original empirical investigation of the history of life in an environmental context. The Museum is important in providing space and facilities for conserving, organizing, and studying collections of fossil specimens and accompanying information resulting from field investigations. Empirical interaction with the real world, past and present, is how ideas are tested, and such interaction often leads to new insights and understanding. Much of the progress of paleontology as a science depends on the quality of interpretations integrating new observations with previous knowledge. New observations are generated by looking at old specimens in new ways, as technology develops, or by focused collection of new specimens in new ways from appropriate field sites and settings."
