H-Sites: Harvard Life and Learning

As part of its mission to document Harvard University, the Harvard University Archives has collected across several centuries thousands of personal archives of individuals and records of organizations affiliated with the University, including faculty, students, and clubs. Many of these materials are now created on web sites. The purpose of H-Sites: Harvard Life and Learning is to collect and make accessible this web-based material. As it grows, the H-Sites collection will document the intellectual and social interests of a segment of the community of people who live, work, and learn at Harvard: primarily faculty and students, but also, occasionally, visiting scholars and staff. Title: In Our Own Words

Description: The In Our Own Words project seeks to use storytelling to empower the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community to claim their own narratives and increase awareness of the AAPI community at Harvard. The project collects stories from members of this community and presents them to the larger community. The In Our Own Words website provides information on leadership, AAPI history, and events. Title: Mercé Crosas

Description: Mercé Crosas was the Chief Data Science and Technology Officer at Harvard University's Institute for Quantitative Social Science (2004-2021) as well as Harvard's University Research Data Management Officer (2019-2021). Her work involved leadership in data sharing, data analysis, data management, and data governance. Her website contains biographical information, presentations, publications, and information about research projects and collaborations. Title: Drew Gilpin Faust

Description: Drew Gilpin Faust (1947- ) served as the 28th president of Harvard University from 2007 to 2018, the first woman in that role and the first Harvard president since 1672 without an undergraduate or graduate degree from Harvard. Faust received her bachelor’s degree in history from Bryn Mawr College in 1968, and her master’s degree and doctorate in American Civilization from the University of Pennsylvania in 1971 and 1975. For 25 years, Faust was Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania, before becoming the founding Dean for the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard in 2001. As dean, Faust worked to expand the institute into a wide-ranging multidisciplinary focus and creative enterprise that explored new knowledge in traditional fields. As Harvard president, Faust was known for expanding financial aid access across Harvard College, advocating for increased federal funding for scientific research, returning the ROTC to Harvard campus, and overseeing a record breaking $9 million capital campaign.
