The North Carolina State Government Web Site Archives contains content from the Web sites of North Carolina State Government Agencies, Occupational Licensing Boards, and Commissions. This collection includes many different types of records, in a variety of file formats (such as text-based information, images, and video and audio files) including meeting minutes, policies, and agency publications. The State Library of North Carolina and the North Carolina State Archives have collaborated on this initiative to identify, capture, and make accessible state government information.

Title: North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors

Description: In 1925 the North Carolina General Assembly established the authority of the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors, amending Chapter 318 of the Public Laws, designed for the purpose of safeguarding life, health and property and to promote public welfare. The licensing statutes which govern the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors prescribe certain standards for persons, firms and corporations who enter into contracts for construction work in this state. The practice act providing specific regulatory authority over general contractors is found under N.C. General Statute 87, Article 1. Current laws in North Carolina define general contractors as persons, firms or corporations who enter into construction projects costing $30,000 or more.

Title: North Carolina Contractors' Registration Board

Description: The North Carolina Landscape Contractors' Registration Board was created by the North Carolina General Assembly and is operated as a state licensing board. The Registration Board consists of nine appointed citizens who are responsible for administering Chapter 89D of the General Statutes of North Carolina. That is, to give examinations, issue certificates, monitor for violations, maintain records of registrants, etc. The members of this board are appointed by: the Governor of NC, the Commissioner of Agriculture, the NC Nurserymen's Association, the NC Landscape Contractors' Association, and the NC Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
