Description: Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System (KTRS) is classified as an "actuarial reserve, joint-contributory" system, meaning that contributions of the members and employers and the earnings from KTRS investments are placed in reserve to pay for the System's annuity obligation.The Teachers’ Retirement System is a comprehensive retirement plan for Kentucky’s public school teachers that includes a defined benefit, life insurance and retiree health insurance. TRS retirement eligibility is determined by the employee’s age and years of service. The service retirement annuity is a lifetime benefit.
