Description: Chris Alemany 🇺🇦 🇨🇦 🇪🇸 on Twitter: "1/ I've rotated through five N95 masks (Eternity - Particulate Respirator - 95PFE-L2 ECAN95 - Shoppers DM - $50/20. Bought at Xmas). One every work day since Jan 10. It's week 5. Here r some thoughts about wearing an N95 for 5-8hrs/day. Excuse the messy shelves :) 🧵 #covid19bc / 2/ This morning I notice the inside of today's mask was looking soiled around the nose, inside. Less so on the outside. All the guidance says if they look soiled at all, you should discard them. So this one's gone from the rotation. This is after about 4 days of actual use. / 3/ I'm going to change how I'm hanging my masks. We have had construction around the building and I've noticed the smell of wood in the mask when I put it on. I think it is particulate accumulating on the inside. I'll figure out how to hang them so dust doesn't settle inside. / 4/ After the first week or so of wearing the masks and getting used to how to wear them both comfortably and properly, I've found them to be more comfortable and working better on the 2nd and 3rd time I wear them. Likely because they are becoming better molded to my face. / 5/ Some people remark it looks tight, but it doesn't feel that way. The edges and fabric of the mask are soft, comfortable. The bridge of my nose was getting a little sore, but that seems to have lessened. I'm probably fitting it better. (I should have shaved this morning lol) / 6/ For comparison, here's an extra surgical-type mask I have. The fit is nothing like the N95. I hardly feel like it's doing anything at all. And my old cloth mask now feels both useless and diiirrrty. / 7/ It did take a little bit to get used to breathing in the N95. It's not stressful, it's just different. You get used to it. Now I don't feel any difference whether I'm walking or speaking to people or I'm alone. Plus, it keeps my face warm when it's chilly outside. :) / 8/ I've broken the strap on 2 surgical and one N95. That's the weakest link I guess. But overall I've found the N95s comfortable, robust, and easy. If you're not already using an N95 or KN95, try them out. It's worth it, they're reusable, they're effective. Hope this helps. /end"
