Our graduates are trained to be workforce ready and many return to enroll in our PhD, clinical doctorate and masters by coursework physiotherapy programs. The final intake for the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Program will be in 2009, after which a transition will be made to our new Graduate Entry Physiotherapy Program, commencing in 2011. Students in Physiotherapy can expect dynamic and interactive learning through the structure of our academic programs that are informed by current best clinical practice. We provide a friendly and supportive learning environment, exposure to the best teachers and clinicians from first year, a strong cohort experience, learning programs underpinned by strong scientific research, and mentoring from dedicated academics with enthusiasm for student learning. Co- and extra-curricular experiences (including our strong clinical education program) are designed to enhance learning, individual development and preparation for a career in healthcare. Our professional team ensures student centered services that are efficient, effective and delivered in a professional and friendly manner. Research is a strength within the School of Physiotherapy, with more than 50 research higher degree students enrolled. Our excellent academics are research active and ensure that learning and teaching are informed by scientific research. High priority is directed towards excellent supervision and ensuring that students have access to the infrastructure and resources needed to complete their studies to a very high standard without delays. Two outstanding Research Centres, CHESM and RSRC, provide nuclei for our research programs. Knowledge transfer is ensured by our strategic collaborative partnerships with the physiotherapy profession. This is facilitated through our Clinical Schools and relationships with the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Australian Physiotherapy Council and the Australian College of Physiotherapy. Our team was recently recognised with an inaugural Knowledge Transfer award. Our staff, students and graduates work in hospitals, private practices and with internationally competitive sporting teams.
