Throughout recorded history, Nepal has nestled between the giant cultural formations of India to the south and China/Tibet to the north. With the globalization of modern times, international interests and concerns draw Nepal into contact with more distant corners of the world. There are now a multitude of non-governmental organizations at work in Nepal, many headquartered in the Kathmandu Valley. Some are international NGOs and some are purely Nepali, some are long running and some are startups. All of the websites archived here are NGO self-presentations of their aspirations and their achievements on various fronts—humanitarian, environmental, economic, political, religious, and more.

Description: The Safe Motherhood Network Federation of Nepal (SMNF) was founded in june 1996 by the partnership of 26 professionals working in the area of womens rights and reproductive health. The founding members of the Network collaboratively funded it and joined hands in planning and implementing awareness and advocacy activities when safe motherhood was a non-issue in Nepal. Since its inception, SMNF promoted a rights-based approach and also worked in the broader spectrum of reproductive health. The Network adopted newborn health as a part of its mandate in 2004. Safe Motherhood Network registered as a Federation in Kathmandu on 28 March 2005 under CDO registration 46/061/062 and Social Council Registration number 17917. - From the website 2018.12.03 Organization founded in 1996
