Description:

Throughout recorded history, Nepal has nestled between the giant cultural formations of India to the south and China/Tibet to the north. With the globalization of modern times, international interests and concerns draw Nepal into contact with more distant corners of the world. There are now a multitude of non-governmental organizations at work in Nepal, many headquartered in the Kathmandu Valley. Some are international NGOs and some are purely Nepali, some are long running and some are startups. All of the websites archived here are NGO self-presentations of their aspirations and their achievements on various fronts—humanitarian, environmental, economic, political, religious, and more.

Title: Chhimek Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd.

Description: Chhimek Laghubitta Bikas Bank Ltd. (CLBBL) registered as a Company in December 2001, received its banking license in January 2002, from Nepal Rastra Bank (The Central Bank) under the Development Bank Act 1995. It was established by the Neighbourhood Society Service Centre (NSSC), which carried out earlier its own microfinance activities in Mahottari and Chitwan districts of Nepal. When the new Financial Intermediary Act came into effect, NGO’s were restrained from mobilizing client savings, and , additionally more recognized legal entity for providing micro-finance services to the members was required. Description: Organization founded in 1978 CARE started its operations in Nepal in 1978 and was one of the first international aid agencies to work in the country. CARE Nepal’s initial focus was on addressing the basic needs of the poor and vulnerable communities through infrastructure development, agriculture extension activities and natural resource management. This focus changed in the 1990’s with the introduction of a more diversified portfolio and a community-based ‘human infrastructure development’ approach.
