Description:

The Decentralized Web Summit was an event held June 8-9, 2016, at the Internet Archive in San Francisco, CA. The summit brought together web technologists, service providers, thinkers, journalist, and others in order to imagine and articulate the needs of a World Wide Web that is “open, secure and free of censorship by distributing data, processing, and hosting across millions of computers around the world, with no centralized control.” Its program included keynote addresses by Mitchell Baker (Mozilla Foundation), Vint Cerf (Google), Tim Berners-Lee (W3C) Brewster Kahle (Internet Archive), and Cory Doctorow (Electronic Frontier Foundation); panel discussions; and lightning talks by web developers , designers, and academics. This web archive preserves and provides access to the Summit’s official website and YouTube-based livestream of events, its surrounding social media conversation, its reactions and recaps among blogs and the popular press, and materials related to its speakers’ and panelists’ presentations.
