This web archive collection consists of websites, webpages, videos, articles, and other online content covering the replacement of the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) "Illegal aliens" and "Aliens" with "Illegal immigration" and "Noncitizens.” The collected web resources capture student-led initiatives, the resulting backlash and legislation barring the proposed changes from Republican-led Congress members, librarians' response and involvement in making the requested changes, the successful replacement of these subject headings in November of 2021, and the continued discourse around these and other offensive, exclusionary, and outdated subject headings.
