Description:

Gettysburg College launched the public phase of its comprehensive campaign, Gettysburg Great: The Campaign for Our College, on September 20 at its Homecoming and Campaign Kick-Off Weekend on campus. The $150 million campaign is the largest in the College’s history. To date, the College has raised more than $77 million.

Gettysburg’s top priority will be scholarships for undergraduate students. Other key campaign goals include strengthening faculty support, increasing engaged learning opportunities for students, bolstering annual giving, and jumpstarting new global initiatives, such as the renovation of a campus building into a global education center.

“This will be the most ambitious campaign in the history of our college,” said Janet Morgan Riggs ’77, president of Gettysburg College. “We know that we have the capacity to work together to make Gettysburg and great inseparable.”

Through bolstering scholarship support, Gettysburg seeks to increase the inclusiveness of its campus community, invest in the talent and promise of students, and keep student debt to a minimum.

Funds raised for faculty endeavors will jumpstart new endowed professorships and professional development opportunities, as well as encourage creative teaching and expanded use of technology within the classroom.

Gettysburg also seeks to expand educational experiences outside of the classroom by providing additional engaged learning opportunities for students. These opportunities include funded summer internships and career-related experiences, winter and spring immersion trips, and student research with faculty mentors.

Annual giving is vital to every college and university. These donations close the gap between college tuition and the actual cost to educate a student. Raising funds for annual giving will expand academic, athletic, and co-curricular opportunities for students, increase campus resources, and elevate the College’s national reputation.

Global InitiativesLastly, Gettysburg is committed to preparing tomorrow’s global leaders. With Campaign funds dedicated to global initiatives, the College will create three new academic global programs—the Center for Global Education, the Center for Language and Intercultural Communication, and the Center for the Study of Global Issues—as well as provide additional support to its Center for Public Service. Upon the renovation of Plank Gymnasium into a global education center, the four programs will be housed in the new space.
