Description: The Yellowstone County Museum was founded in 1953 by the Yellowstone Historical Society, Parmly Billings Library, the Pioneers of Eastern Montana, Yellowstone County, and the City of Billings. The museum has been open to the public since 1956. Its mission is to collect, preserve, and share thee history of Montana's Yellowstone River Basin through a range of dynamic educational programs and storytelling exhibitions.

Description: The Western Heritage Center (WHC) is one of six Montana museums accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. Incorporated in 1971, the WHC began as a community center displaying a private collection of western artifacts in a historic building. The WHC has since added outreach programs and walking tours, changing interactive exhibits, traveling displays, and a collection of over 400 oral histories and 40,000 historic items and photographs. The museum strives to incorporate original research into all its exhibits and programs.
