Washington County, Oregon CPOs

Archived since: Nov, 2022

Description:

Citizen Participation Organizations (CPOs) and the related Committee for Community Involvement (CCI) have served as important public involvement venues for Washington County since the 1970s in support of Goal 1 Citizen Involvement under Oregon’s land use planning system. For over 30 years, the program was run as a nonprofit community-based service under contract with the Oregon State University Extension Service, providing citizens with an independent and community-run forum for engagement. In 2016, Oregon State Extension Service ended their contract with the County and the County took over management of the service. In 2021, County commissioners affirmed support for an ongoing multi-year reenvisioning of the CPO program. In summer of 2022, the program websites were updated and previous history is no longer available on the live web. The live and archived websites in this collection span many years of community action and evolution during a time of rapid change for Washington County. More content is available at the Wayback Machine at http://extension.oregonstate.edu/washington/cpo and https://www.co.washington.or.us/CAO/CPO/.
