2020 West Michigan and Presidential elections

Description:

In November 2019, NBC's Meet the Press announced a County to County project, where they would embed reporters in five communities around the country to capture views on the presidential election in 2020. Kent County, Michigan was identified as one of those communities, and local citizens were interviewed for the project. In general, Michigan and Grand Rapids were noted as important places to watch for the 2020 presidential election.

City of Grand Rapids elections - November 2019

Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce endorses Bill Schuette

On Monday, September 17, 2018, the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce announced that they were endorsing Bill Schuette and Lisa Posthumus Lyons for Governor and Lt. Governor in the 2018 Michigan gubernatorial election. The announcement generated concern among many community leaders and businesses, in connection with Schuette's record on LGBTQ rights and protections.
