Description:

The Special Collections Research Center is the principal repository for and steward of the Libraries’ rare books, manuscripts, archives, and University records. We collect, preserve, and make accessible primary resources and rare or unique materials, to stimulate, enrich, and support research, teaching, learning, and administration at Temple University. SCRC makes these resources available to a broad constituency as part of the University's engagement with the larger community of scholars and independent researchers. Many of the SCRC’s collections documenting the Philadelphia region’s history are found in our Philadelphia Dance Collection, Philadelphia Jewish Archives, and Urban Archives. These Archive-It collections capture the on-line presence of some of the organizations whose archives are preserved by the SCRC. Title: Bristol Jewish Center

Description: The Bristol Jewish Center, a conservative congregation founded in 1904 as Congregation Ahavath Achim, was the first synagogue established in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The congregation closed in May 2015, with the remaining members merging with Congregation Kol Emet in Yardley, PA. Website content changes over time, but the Bristol Jewish Center’s website has included a history of the congregation, photo gallery, schedule of services, and events calendar.

Title: Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel

Description: Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel (BZBI), located in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square neighborhood, is a conservative congregation established in 1964 from the merger of Temple Beth Zion and Temple Beth Israel. In 1984, BZBI absorbed the Neziner Congregation formerly located in the Queen Village neighborhood. Website content changes over time, but Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel’s website has included information about educational programming it offers, the admissions process, and event calendars for the Neziner Hebrew School, play and preschools. BZBI’s website also includes FAQs about services for life cycle events, links to external resources including websites of local Jewish organizations and about Conservative Judaism, past issues of the synagogue newsletter and the Rabbi’s sermons, a staff directory, and the BZBI Dictionary of Jewish tradition and terms.
