ANS Task Force Aquatic Nuisance Species

Description:

The Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Task Force was established by Congress with the passage of the Nonindigenous Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act (NANPCA) in 1990 and reauthorized with the passage of the National Invasive Species Act (NISA) in 1996 (collectively, the Act). Composed of 13 Federal and 15 ex-officio members, it is the only Federally-mandated intergovernmental organization solely dedicated to preventing and controlling ANS.

CWPPRA, Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act

The Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act, (CWPPRA pronounced kwǐp-rŭh), is federal legislation enacted in 1990 that is designed to identify, prepare, and fund construction of coastal wetlands restoration projects. Since its inception, 210 coastal restoration or protection projects have been authorized, benefiting approximately 100,000 acres in Louisiana.

The Columbia River Basin Federal Caucus is a group of ten federal agencies operating in the Columbia River Basin that have natural resource responsibilities and promote recovery of native fish and wildlife listed under the Endangered Species Act. Thirteen populations of Columbia River Basin salmon and steelhead are identified as threatened or endangered under the ESA. These amazing fish are one of the great icons of the Pacific Northwest.
