Description:
This web collection preserves captures from Brazilian web engines. The snapshots were archived by the Internet Archive, and curated to be part of this collection by the Federal State University of Rio de Janeiro. The web collection was built as part of a research project, which investigates born-digital heritage. Since the collection focuses on the History and Culture categories of the search engines, its crawlers were programmed to capture all the available in-links of those categories. In addition, the web collection is also an attempt to ensure that these fragments became easily accessible. For further information about the collection, also available in Portuguese, please follow the link of the Federal State University of Rio de Janeiro's web site listed above

Description:
Located at a major intersection of land and sea cargo traffic, the border towns of Port Huron, Michigan, and Sarnia, Ontario, are connected by the world's only internationally-owned bridge. In summer 2009, a private US company began to fly overhead a 50-foot helium balloon with a surveillance camera capable of reading a ship's name from 14 km (more than 8 miles) away. The sudden presence of a far-seeing camera in the sky sparked strong reaction on both sides of the border -- from formal protest by the Canadian government and US and Canadian elected officials to grassroots actions. Organized through word of mouth and online social networking tools, the Moon the Balloon
protest, from which this web archive draws its name, delved into a rich symbology for expressing the sense of surveillance having gone too far, and a primal protest rooted in the local area's tradition of independence and personal liberty.

Our mission is to capture the public perception of the Mars rovers on their 10th anniversary, and to preserve and provide access to that information for future research. We will collect web pages that address the Mars rovers from three different perspectives on their 10th anniversary, and to preserve and provide access to that information for future research. Official government websites will provide the control information: what was officially released regarding the past ten years exploring Mars. As a counterpoint, we will also capture the popular news and science media’s relation of these events as well as the fringe (conspiracy theorizing, alien spotting and so on) perspectives and reactions.

Description:
The Design Card Decks for Ideation and Exploration Web Archive is curated by librarians at the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University, under the auspices of the Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation. Card decks are used in design fields as a game-based methodology for ideation and stakeholder participatory collaboration. The purposes of decks vary; some are used for brainstorming new products and services while others are scenario-based, prompting designers to consider how their products or services may be incorporated into different communities. They function both as a tool for design speculation and as a set of illustrations that visualize design thinking. This archive preserves websites associated with these decks; as design thinking becomes popular in many disciplines, from business to science, the potential user groups for these tools greatly expands outside traditional design fields. Curators of the archive are: Shannon Robinson (University of Pennsylvania) and Gabriella Karl-Johnson (Princeton University).

Description:
The Digital Gaming Communities Web Archive preserves content, across varying web formats, generated by and related to digital games, in order to foster research within the discipline. Themes collected include critical gaming, game ethics, accessibility in gaming and game design, and user reviews and playthroughs. Content can be created by an individual, group of individuals, organizations, or corporations. While other sites are collecting digital games and criticism of digital games, no other archive is collecting the responses of the gamers themselves. This Archive will give current and future researchers a means of studying digital games and gamers in distinct and different ways than secondary sources represent. This collection attempts to collect many facets of gaming culture, which may include views expressed by people associated with extremist groups and may include hate speech in some cases. Although some users may find this content offensive or dangerous, its primary purpose is for research and teaching. The Archive is a collaboration between Dartmouth College, the University of Chicago, and Duke, Michigan State, and Wilfrid Laurier Universities, under the auspices of the Ivy Plus Libraries Confederation. Curators of the Archive are: Laura R. Braunstein, Michelle Goodridge, Arianne Hartsell-Gundy, Matthew Murray, André G. Wenzel, and Jonah Magar.
