With a rich history dating back to the 1940 World's Fair in New York City and the development of the gaming console in the 1970s, video games have evolved immensely ever since the idea came to fruition and their creation. Since the creation of video games, this has created a new cultural dynamic within the world of video gaming. The development and evolution of gaming technologies have grown over the course of time and has created new ways for humans to interact. Through these technological advancements and professional organization’s influence, communities of gamers and online play have created new means of social interaction and the emergence of video game culture. This collection gives the user a glimpse of video game culture, which consists the emergence of its own unique “subculture,” comprised of language, behaviors, and social norms. This collection highlights how professional organizations and the industry have built communities of gamers and shaped video game culture. This collection showcases the evolution and history of gaming and how video game culture has grown and emerged. Through detailed information and interactive websites, this collection gives the user an overview of video game culture and current trends surrounding it.
