Title: The Joseph Smith Papers

URL: http://josephsmithpapers.org/

Description: Joseph Smith (1805–1844) was the founding prophet and first president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Joseph Smith Papers Project is an effort to gather together all extant Joseph Smith documents and to publish complete and accurate transcripts of those documents with both textual and contextual annotation. All such documents will be published electronically on the Joseph Smith Papers website, and a large number of the documents will also be published in print. The print and electronic publications constitute an essential resource for scholars and students of the life and work of Joseph Smith, early Mormonism, and nineteenth-century American religion. Title: Sutcliffe Maudsley: Nauvoo Portrait Artist (Online exhibit)

URL: https://history.lds.org/exhibit/sutcliffe-and-elizabeth-foxcroft-maudsley?lang=eng

Description: From the captured webpage: "Sutcliffe Maudsley was one of only three known portrait artists living in Nauvoo, Illinois, in the early 1840s. His life was typical of many early Latter-day Saint converts who emigrated from England to Nauvoo, but his contributions to the community and to history were unique. His works are historically and artistically significant to the understanding of early Latter-day Saint history and culture. Maudsley's portraits of Joseph Smith Jr. and other early Church leaders and personalities are rare for this period. In spite of Maudsley's limited art training, his portraits are exceptional in capturing the likeness of his subjects." The LDS (Mormon) Church History Museum original held an exhibit relating to Sutcliffe Maudsley, his work, and family, 12 April-10 November 2002. This first exhibit was developed into an online exhibit which has been captured and archived and is in the Internet Archive Wayback Machine located at: https://web.archive.org/web/20041011210431/http://www.lds.org/museum/exhibits/maudsley/home/1,13480,4088-1-3,00.html
