Description: Women in Photography International (WIPI) was an educational nonprofit group and outreach organization founded in 1981 by Thea Litsios, Orah Moore, Mary McNally, and other women photographers in Los Angeles, California. The professional organization served women photographers, photographic educators, photography students, and gallery owners around the world. It promoted women photographers and their work through programs, exhibitions, juried competitions, and publications. The website, which was maintained by Women in Photography International and in particular Jean Ferro, documents the organization's history, membership, and research and advocacy of the work of historical and contemporary women photographers.
