Description: The George H. Atkinson Graduate School of Administration was founded in 1974, with Stephen Archer serving as the first Dean. The graduate school has been housed in the Seeley G. Mudd Building on the Willamette University campus since the building’s dedication in 1975. In 1980, the School of Administration changed its name to the George H. Atkinson Graduate School of Management (AGSM). Part of the AGSM mission is to help “graduates acquire life-long learning skills and become outstanding leaders and managers in business, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide.” Among the programs offered to students of the AGSM are an Executive-in-Residence and Executive-on-Campus programs that allows students to interact with, and learn from business professionals. AGSM has received multiple honors including recognition from the U.S. News and World Report as the fifth best business school in the Midwest and West region in 1988, and acceptance for a Beta Gamma Sigma honor society chapter in 1996. In 1995, it was accredited by the American Association of Schools of Business (now the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and the National Association of School of Public Affairs and Administration. It is the first Master of Management program with this dual accreditation.

Description: Willamette University, the first university in the West, was founded by Methodist missionaries in Salem, Oregon in 1842. Over the years, Willamette developed a significant collection of European, Asian, Native American, and historic and contemporary regional art, and in 1998 opened Hallie Ford Museum of Art to showcase its growing collection. The story of Willamette’s art collection has its genesis in Native American baskets that were given to the early Methodist missionaries by Clatsop Indians on the Oregon Coast and Kalapuyan Indians in the Willamette Valley. In the 1930s, the Native American collection was significantly enhanced with the addition of several hundred baskets from E.C. Cross and M.E. Polleski, two prominent Salem collectors at the turn of the century. Over the years, other objects were donated to Willamette, including: works by Barbizon painters Camille Corot, Charles-Francoise Daubigny, Victor Dupre, and Diaz de la Pena; works by Constance Fowler and Carl Hall, both of whom taught at Willamette; a number of works by American and European artists, including James Abbott McNeill Whistler and Larry Poons; and a wide variety of works by historic and modern Oregon artists, including Harry Wentz, Louis Bunce, Jack McLarty, and Jan Zach, among others.

Description: Established in 1883, Willamette University College of Law has been accredited by the ABA since 1921 and offers a learning environment that is distinctive among law schools. Located across the street from the state Capitol complex and the Oregon Supreme Court, the college is situated in the epicenter of state law, government and business. The College of Law emphasizes small enrollment, excellence in teaching and a high level of faculty-student interaction. We also boast a student-faculty ratio of 15-to-1. Our select enrollment of fewer than 430 students creates an intellectual intimacy unmatched by most law schools in the United States. As a community, we are committed to the advancement of knowledge through research and scholarship, to diversity, and to public service. Willamette law students should expect to be challenged, to defend their opinions, to think and rethink their ideas, and to leave with a heightened respect for themselves and confidence in what they can do.
