Title: Buck Lab

URL: https://research.fhcrc.org/buck/en.html

Description: Linda Buck’s laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms and neural circuits that underlie the sense of smell and instinctive odor responses. They are interested in how the olfactory system detects myriad environmental chemicals and how the brain translates those chemicals into diverse odor perceptions, hormonal alterations, and instinctive behaviors. Illumination of the neural circuits underpinning these effects may provide clues to those affected in certain human disorders, particularly those involving stress, fear, and appetite.

Title: Corey Lab

URL: https://research.fhcrc.org/corey/en.html

Description: The Corey Lab focuses on the pathogenesis of chronic viral infections and host immune responses. This includes herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) and HIV. The lab uses HSV as a model to study the tissue based immune system of the genital tract. Their studies indicate a diverse and unique set of tissue resident cells populate the genital tract. Their work is devoted to identifying and understanding the role of these cells in disease pathogenesis. The ultimate goal for these projects is to develop immunotherapeutic methods to control subclinical HSV-2 reactivation and reduce the transmission to sexual partners.
