Description: Archived website of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML). IAML was founded in Paris, France, in July of 1951. The organizations founding was part of the United Nations mission to promote world peace, and membership has grown from 20 countries in 1952 to 40 countries in 1991. The principle aim of IAML is to encourage and promote the activities of music libraries and archives, and to promote better understanding of the cultural importance of music libraries both nationally and internationally. The IAML website includes information about its principal aims, membership, history, archives, governance, branches, committees, subject commissions, working groups, annual conferences, joint projects, outreach fund, national reports, publications, and news.
