LDS Philanthropies (formerly known as LDS Foundation) is a department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Office of the Presiding Bishopric. It's responsible for philanthropic donations to its affiliated charities, programs, educational institutions, and organizations. Entities receiving donations include the following: Church History, Family History/FamilySearch, LDS Charities (Humanitarian Services), Missionary/Missionary Fund, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Self-Reliance Services/Perpetual Education Fund, Polynesian Cultural Center, and Temple Patron and Construction Fund. It's also responsible for donations to the following church schools: Brigham Young University, BYU-Hawaii, BYU-Idaho, LDS Business College, and Church Educational System’s elementary and secondary schools.

Title: Seminaries and Institutes: Elementary and Secondary Schools

Description: Historically The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints operated elementary and secondary schools throughout the world where children lacked opportunities for education. A number of these schools still exist (1) But, many families cannot afford the cost of travel, books, supplies and meals to allow their children to attend school. Scholarships provide a way for the children. LDS Church elementary and secondary schools are supported and guided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and are managed by Church Educational System Seminaries and Institutes under the direction of the LDs Church Board of Education. Scholarship Funds include the following (2): Fiji General Scholarship Fund, Kiribati General Scholarship Fund, Mexico General Scholarship Fund, Samoa General Scholarship Fund, Tonga General Scholarship Fund (1-2) as of 10 December 2015.
