The Carrboro Film Festival started in 2006 and has continued annually. It features the Kay Keyser Awards (named after the local actor and bandleader from the 1940s Kay Keyser). Description: Hosted by the Carolina Theatre in Durham, North Carolina, the Nevermore Film Festival features amateur, independent, and professionally produced feature length and short form films within the horror genre. The films are selected by a seven member committee over a period of three to four months. Audience awards are given in five categories corresponding to the type of film and region in which it was created. The festival typically occurs in February.
