Description: Also known as NCGLFF, the NC Gay and Lesbian Film Festival showcases shorts, documentaries, and feature length films with a focus on LGBTQ themes. It is an annual festival. The Emerging Film Awards has 10 categories: Best Women’s Short, Best Women’s Long-Form Narrative Short, Best Women’s Feature, Best Transgender Feature, Best Transgender Short, Best International Transgender Short, Best Men’s Feature, Best Men’s Short, Best Men’s Long-Form Short, and Best Men’s International Short. Hundreds of submissions are reviewed for the festival, with only a fraction being selected. The festival typically takes place in August.

Directors and filmmakers come from all over the world, films are shown in multiple languages, and the festival includes panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and seminars in addition to screenings.
