Description: Friends of the National Center focuses on advancing Earth system science in the areas of student fellowships, scientific education, access to scholarship, and increasing diversity and inclusion. In 2017, UCAR established Friends of the National Center, building on the success of earlier donor support efforts begun in 1996. For the first two decades, donated funds supported development by the UCAR Center for Science Education of successful innovations in science education and public science literacy. Today, Friends of the National Center broadens that focus to include additional ways of advancing Earth system science. As we reach out to alumni and friends in the broader community, we invite you to join us in advancing this legacy of support.

Description: The President's Strategic Initiative Fund provides seed funding for promising interdisciplinary scientific research across the whole of the organization. Awards are made to incentivize transformational science across NCAR, UCP, and/or with UCAR Member Institutions. Successful proposals will outline new activities likely to lead to future external funding. Initiative funding may not be used to supplement an existing activity.
