Description: The Public Service Commission of South Carolina’s main function is as a court for cases involving utilities and other regulated companies. The Public Service Commission has broad jurisdiction over matters pertaining to the investor owned electric and gas utility companies, water and wastewater companies, telecommunications companies, motor carriers of household goods, hazardous waste disposal, and taxicabs. Utility regulation in the state began in 1878 with the Railroad Commission, and the Public Service Commission was established in 1910. These records may contain minutes, photographs and video of significant events, statistics, agency policies, and other significant and related records. This was an initial crawl of the Public Service Commission and this seed is no longer captured using the Archive-It service.
