Description: Archived website of the Prince George's County Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (PGCCPTA), 2015 to present. The PGCCPTA was organized in May 1941, by the memberships of five local Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs): Greenbelt Elementary, Greenbelt High, Mt. Rainier High, Oxon Hill Elementary, and Riverdale Elementary schools. The mission of the PGCCPTA was to strengthen and improve local PTAs ("units") and their programs; compile, evaluate, and report information about children and their needs; provide workshops and training sessions for their members; and provide a means for local PTAs to coordinate their efforts. The PGCCPTA was an unincorporated organization which, along with the individual PTAs, was chartered under the Maryland Congress of Parents and Teachers (MCPT), a state branch of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers (NCPT). The MCPT approved the bylaws of the PGCCPTA as well as the local units and examined the PGCCPTA's records and accounts for accuracy. In 2000, the MCPT revoked the charter of the PGCCPTA for undisclosed reasons. The charter was reinstated the following year, but was once again revoked in 2007 for failure to keep accurate records of bylaws, minutes, and financial documents. The PGCCPTA was re-established in 2010. The PGCCPTA website includes information about its mission, officers, local units, calendar, training, resources for running PTAs, advocacy, and council membership.

Description: Archived website of the American Association of University Women of Maryland, 2015 to present. Founded in Boston in 1882 by sixty-five female college graduates, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is the oldest and largest national organization of women in the United States. While advocacy for women and women's educational opportunities have remained basic elements of the AAUW program, international relations, cultural interests, and the quality of community life have become long-standing commitments as well. Currently, the AAUW offers college-educated women conferences and seminars on such subjects as the United Nations and the American family, fellowships for doctoral or postdoctoral work, grants for members to return to school after a five-year absence, a coalition of woman-power influencing local, state, and national legislation, and several publications. The Maryland State Division was officially launched on November 18, 1942. The current objectives of the Maryland Division of the AAUW are to assist in the formation of new branches in the state, to give and receive suggestions from other state branches, and provide backing for programs of individual Maryland chapters. The division also actively sponsors a variety of programs and projects in such areas as community, education, cultural interests, international relations, women's issues, and legislative concerns. The AAUW of Maryland website includes information about its blog, calendar, public policy, legislative alerts, newsletters, branches, tools for leaders, college and university partners, membership benefits, and Maryland Women of Distinction Fund.

Description: Archived website of the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI), an organization of teachers, parents, and other adults interested in promoting good educational practices for children from infancy through early adolescence. Maintaining a staff of thirteen, ACEI is headquartered in Wheaton, Maryland, and currently has a membership of 13,000, with thirty-one state groups and 153 local groups. Established in 1892 as the International Kindergarten Union, ACEI is the oldest professional association of its type in the United States. Currently, its goals are to promote the inherent rights, education, and well-being of all children in home, school, and community; to promote desirable conditions, programs, and practices for children from infancy through early adolescence; to raise the standard of preparation for teachers and others who are involved with the care and development of children; to encourage continuous professional growth of educators; to bring into active cooperation all individuals and groups concerned with children; and to inform the public of the needs of children and the ways in which various programs must be adjusted to fit those needs and rights. In order to meet these goals, ACEI conducts workshops and travel/study tours abroad and offers awards for excellence in education. They also maintain liaison with government agencies, cooperating organizations, teaching institutions, and manufacturers and designers of materials and equipment for children. In addition to publishing books and pamphlets on a variety of subjects and bibliographies of children's literature, ACEI produces the ACEI Exchange monthly, Childhood Education five times per year, and the Journal of Research in Childhood Education biennially. Description: Archived Facebook profile of the Maryland State Grange. Oliver Hudson Kelley organized the first grange in Washington in 1868. The Colora Grange in Cecil County was Maryland's first, established in 1873. The grange movement grew quickly, and by 1874, 110 Granges existed all over Maryland. The organization rapidly evolved from an agricultural fraternity to a largely commercial venture. When business failure hit in 1875, membership dropped and many Granges were disbanded. Since that heyday, the Grange has remained active not only in agriculture and things affecting agriculture, but also as a special action group, taking a stand on such issues as war and peace, relief, and education. By 1960, 45 Granges were active in the state of Maryland.
