The Bladensburg Archaeology Project was proposed by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) and the Center for Heritage Resource Studies (CHRS) at the University of Maryland "to investigate historic properties within Bladensburg" and incorporate findings into "signage and interpretive literature associated with the Star Spangled Banner National Historic Trail and Byway" (Bladensburg Archaeology, http://wayback.archive-it.org/1819/20131220205558/http://www.princegeorges1812.org/Bladensburg/index.html, archived December 20, 2013).
