Description: Second Baptist Church is the oldest African American Church in Los Angeles. The HISTORIC SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH of Los Angeles is the oldest African American Baptist church west of the Mississippi River. Founded in 1885 the church has met every Sunday for 135 years. Throughout its history Second Baptist Church played an important role in the civil rights movement and the history of the African-American community in Los Angeles. The current pastor, Dr. William S. Epps has served since 1987. Services are every Sunday at 8AM and 11AM. 8AM Services are available on the radio and online since 1960's every Sunday morning.
