Description:

The website Secrets Under the Skin documents a trans-disciplinary art installation created by artist-scholars and presented in Havana, Cuba, from December 2010 to 2014. The installation, which included media, visual art, photographs, storytelling, and live improvisational dance performances, is based on fieldwork conducted in Ghana and Cuba by Jill Flanders Crosby, professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Susan Matthews contributed paintings and illuminated manuscripts to the project. Brian Jeffery photographically documented the African and Cuban field sites.
