Description: "100 Blacks" was founded in 1995 by a core group of concerned African Americans representing a variety of professions within the field of law enforcement. The number of those men and women who wanted to participate in being part of a social solution instead of a passive problem quickly grew to 100 and beyond. These individuals all shared a sense of community, cultural and professional pride. This pride was accompanied by an unfulfilled desire to 'give back' in some meaningful way. Through skillful organization and administration, 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care was born. In that first year, $10,000 in grant monies was collected from the membership and distributed to needy individuals and organizations all over the City of New York."--taken from website 2024.03.11

Our commitment is to ensure that people of color are afforded the rights under the constitution as those in the 'privileged class.' Often the victims of police brutality are minority males, usually Black or Latino, who suffer abuses at the hands of the police--Black and White officers. The original purpose was to support gay and lesbian police officers- who were mostly closeted at that time. Numerous lesbian and gay law enforcement organizations nationwide have come and gone but the LGPA continues to strive as a result of Kathy Dore’s diligence in preserving the organization when she became LGPA President in 1993. The LGPA is dedicated to promoting solidarity and upholding Human Rights, providing support and social interaction for its members and to promote understanding between the police and the LGBT Communities through education, communication and charitable acts." -- fromw website, 2021.03.11

Description: " About Us The Gay Officers Action League (GOAL), is a first-of-its-kind organization that was formed in 1982 to address the needs, issues, and concerns of gay and lesbian law enforcement personnel and has since expanded to a nonprofit tax-exempt civil rights organization. GOAL was founded by Charles Henry "Charlie" Cochrane, Jr. (August 5, 1943–May 5, 2008) a sergeant of the New York City Police Department, who after delivering a public testimony on anti-gay discrimination legislation pending before the New York City Council, became the first openly gay officer of the NYPD. Since its founding as a fraternal organization, GOAL has advocated for the rights of its members and has assisted them on matters of discrimination, harassment, and disparate treatment in the workplace. GOAL furthers its mission by providing training at the NY Police Academy and Jersey City Police Department, among others. Our organization provides an arena for members to discuss their needs and concerns in a comfortable atmosphere without fear of job-related reprisals. We provide a safe environment for a group of people who have been and continue to be, victims of harassment and discrimination in the workplace. We also serve as a bridge between the law enforcement community and The LGBTQ Community at large."--taken from website 2024.03.25

Description: "Founded in 1986, we are a community organization whose members consist of Federal, State, and Municipal Police Officers, Hudson County Sheriff, and Correctional Police Officers, and State Parole Officers. The organization was established to promote fellowship among its members, enhance law enforcement's image, and improve the quality of life of the Hispanic community. To achieve these goals, HALEA advances the educational, patriotic, social, cultural, and moral welfare of its members and local communities. Partnering with other community organizations to co-promote a series of community events, HALEA places its law enforcement members front and center, providing Hispanic youths with the opportunity to develop personal relationships with positive role models. Our members are experienced professionals, leaders in their own fields, that grew up in these communities, and know the importance of giving back to our Hispanic youth. As a strictly voluntary organization, HALEA does not pay any Executive Board Officer. We remain active within the Hispanic Communities of Hudson County and those throughout the State, by partnering with similarly-minded civic organizations and supporting an active calendar of community events."--taken from website 2024.03.18
