Title: Islande : Si la dette ne peut pas être payée, elle ne le sera pas !

URL: http://cadtm.org/Islande-Si-la-dette-ne-peut-pas/

Description: A news article which details the Icelandic government's decision in September 2009 to only repay its public debt if it has the capacity to do so - it's 'payment capacity'. The article acknowledges this decision as an indictment of the policies of the IMF, which recommended the Icelandic government take on the debts of the collapsed Icelandic banks and reduce public spending and increase taxes. Tells a story of how this provides an active site of resistance for citizen participation.
