Collected by: Indiana State Library

Archived since: Jul, 2020

Description:

The Indiana National Guard can trace its beginnings back to 1801, when the Indiana Territory organized militia companies to defend local settlements. The 38th Infantry Division provides fully manned, equipped, trained and expertly led units prepared to deploy and conduct unified land operations for combatant commanders and to respond to any domestic crisis in support of the governor of Indiana or other civil authorities. Troops are prepared to rapidly deploy in order to successfully execute missions supporting both the overseas contingency operation and the Defense Support of Civil Authorities.
