Description: In 2021, a reporter for Der Spiegel revealed that German-born American sculptor Carl Paul Jennewein, who created the gilded bas-reliefs on the library’s 50-foot limestone pylons, exhibited sculptures in the first three Great German Art Exhibitions, organized by the Nazi government as propaganda events.
