Description: A hybrid of the aims of both the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW) and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), our chapter hopes to blend the clinical-community based practice model taught at East Carolina University and the unique perspectives of minority students. Our main objectives are: using services events aimed at uplifting marginalized communities, hosting social events that provide for meaningful discourse and holding fundraising events that express the creative nature of our members. The National Association of Black Social Workers at East Carolina University is open to every student that attends East Carolina, and we hope to recruit members from every major, sex, race, color, religion, creed, national origin, political standing, sexual orientation and gender identity. “Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”-MLK.
