Description: The Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation (CCMC) is the only centre of its kind in Australia, combining both theory and practice of cultural material conservation. The Centre has responsibility for the conservation of the University of Melbourne’s vast collections of cultural material and provides commercial conservation programs, treatments and advice for individuals and organisations. Our teaching programs offer specialist courses in conservation and art authentication. The Centre has a strong research track record and active research programs, with national and international collaborations. In addition, the Centre seeks to develop postgraduate research opportunities, relating to the broader issues of cultural preservation, particularly for communities and cultures within the Asian-Pacific region.
