Description: Welcome to the Department of Medicine, Austin Health & Northern Health (AH/NH). Our department has research laboratories located at three major hospitals in the north-east of Melbourne: the Austin Hospital and the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital in Heidelberg, and the Northern Hospital in Epping. We are a vibrant group of scientists and physicians performing clinical and basic research to understand basic biological mechanisms and disease-causing processes. Research in the Department of Medicine (AH/NH) spans diverse areas of biomedical research covering cancer, cardiovascular disease, endocrinology, genetics, neurosciences, and pharmacology.

Description: The University Department of Surgery at Austin Hospital is one of three Departments of Surgery within The University of Melbourne and incorporates surgery at Northern Hospital. The other Departments include Royal Melbourne Hospital (with Western Hospital) and St. Vincent's Hospital. A Heads of Departments of Surgery meeting is held at quarterly intervals to discuss issues common to the three departments. The Chairman of this Group is appointed on a one year rotating basis from the respective Heads of Departments.

Description: The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering had its real beginning in about 1950. It is now the third largest of six departments within the Faculty of Engineering. The staff complement of the department is made up of 43 academic and research staff, 12 administrative staff and 10 technical staff. Of the academic and research staff, only one quarter are teaching and research appointments, the others are research fellows including postdoctoral appointments. Chemical engineers change the world through use of their knowledge of chemistry, biology, computation and engineering to meet the needs of our technological society. Our highly ranked Department of Chemical Engineering is renowned for its impactful research, high quality teaching, impressive industry connections and excellent graduate outcomes.
